Artwork description (not more than 300 words) is an exploration of language as a social institution, and the underlying system of purely fictitious unity to express ideas. The work translates collected artwork descriptions from Draft #01 into unicode data, and maps the integers into vertices and finally into geometric forms.
The work celebrates the various manifestations and parts of language and speech to finally form what we perceive as a concept. Thus, the nodes of visual programming are made lucid and part of the work, placed crudely beneath the final outcome; the system shall be part of the form, and the work, a machine
In threads Draft #2, the artists have responded to ideas of latent spaces (or multidimensional spaces) through modes of describing, translating, interpreting and experiencing the transference of these spaces and/or their markers, nodes or vectors of object locations.
The visuals and data from Draft #1 are further transposed, compressed, extended, retained or transformed in this iteration.
threads is a series of lab-based interrogations, incubation and showcases at Earl Lu Gallery that depart from the previous exhibition, Common Thread. By playing with the original title, the earlier research and ideas are taken apart and reworked into new presentations. From the previous iterations, multiple inside out inversions, various tangential points and axes are generated.
