Only in my dreams of a life once loved is a collection of memories bound together by text and presented through writing and vague sketches. It explores the inability to voluntarily summon images to the mind’s eye—a forceful separation of memory from image, i.e., aphantasia. Without visual memory, the mind looks back fondly on the past with romantic mistrust. This work laments the yearning for a memory that is beyond the factual, one that can be felt and grasped.
